Games

Hey, in case you didn't notice, I put a two games in the sidebar.

To play Hangman, click the little box and type the letters you're guessing. Once you've completed the game, click your refresh button to begin a new game.

Under Hangman is Brain Tuner. I think it's math all the time. I don't know if it updates something different everyday. I guess we'll know tomorrow.

When Two Blog Worlds Collide

I was so excited about church tonight, knowing that I was going to meet my blog friend, Frog, from Frog's Lilypad, her son Hot Shot, and her husband, Fireball! They're on their way to church planting in Montana. Visiting different churches along the way, they stopped in our little neck of the woods and visited our church tonight.

It's not often we bloggers get to meet each other. I mean, we step into each other's cyber-world through reading about each other's lives. And when the time comes to meet a fellow blogger, it's an exciting experience. Especially when they're brothers and sisters in Christ. I wasn't at all disappointed. I have a feeling if Frog lived closer, we would be such good friends. She has a sweet laugh and I could tell she had a sweet spirit too.

I'm sorry, Frog, but I just had to post both these family pics of y'all. See, when we took this first one, we noticed Frog's eyes were closed. So we decided to take the second one.

We were pleased with this one, after all, Frog's eyes are open. But focusing on this picture and whether or not her eyes were closed, we totally ignored the fact that Hot Shot was playing with his eyes. Fireball seemed to be the only one who knew how to keep his eyes opened for the camera. ROFL

Frog, I was so happy to meet you and your family tonight. I don't know if we'll ever see each other again this side of Heaven, but I'm glad the Lord allowed our paths to cross tonight. And it was wonderful!

I'll be praying for y'all as you travel and prepare to finish that course Fireball was talking about tonight!

At What Point?

Off and on today I've been reflecting on at what point do our lives, the lives of the Christian, take a turn to where we walk away from the blessings that God has given us, to seek out things the devil is telling us will make us happier?

I believe for each individual person that point is at a different place. However, we all have a point. We are all flesh and blood. We are all fallible.

Even during our strongest relationship with the Father, we are only a moment from that point.

Have you ever spent so much time focusing on one thing that the rest of the world just seems to fly by unnoticed? I have...more recently on Facebook, I'm afraid. lol That's the way it should be with the Lord. We must stay focused on Him. So focused that the world has no pull on our mind. So focused that the world has no hold on us.

My daddy taught a lesson when I was a teen called The Four "Ls" It all begins with our eyes and what we are looking at.

First we Look. There's nothing wrong with looking, right? Sometimes we can't HELP what we see. After all, God created our eyes to see. To look. It's what we do after we look that makes a difference in what will happen in our lives and in our relationship with God and those around us.

But then we Linger...there's a danger in that lingering. When Joseph was being enticed by Potiphar's wife, he didn't linger. He RAN AWAY! He got out of there! He could have lingered. What do you think would have happened if he had? Probably the same thing that happened to David when he looked on Bathsheba and then lingered.

David began to Lust. When we lust after something is when we are at our weakest and usually end up giving in to the things that would give us a sense of pleasure. "...joy in sin for a season."

For a season....

Every season ends and moves on to another. Which is the last "L." We Lose.

We lose our families, our friends, our jobs. We begin to reflect on all of the things God has given us, only to find we have lost everything because we looked, we lingered, and we lusted.

I think of the Sunday school song that says, "Oh be careful little eyes what you see, oh be careful little eyes what you see, For the Father up above is looking down in love, oh be careful little eyes what you see."

How can we be careful about what we see? By keeping our mind's eye and our heart's eye on Higher things.

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

We should challenge ourselves daily to think on these things. To stay focused on the good things. To LOOK UP!

We should ask ourselves:
Where am I looking?
Am I lingering?
Am I lusting?
What am I about to lose?

He'll Do It Again

I've posted this on Thimble Thoughts before. Tonight I'm posting it for my friend. She knows who she is. I'm lifting you in prayer and I love you!

Sigma Cookout!

The Speed team in Sigma had an indoor cookout and time in the gym for our youth group Saturday. Jacob did the grilling for the cookout. Great job, Jacob! We appreciated you doing that.

We were somewhat disappointed that less than half the kids showed up, but the ones that did seemed to have a good time. The kids normally don't have time to just sit down and talk, but they did this weekend. It was good to see them actually fellowship with one another.

Next month is our teams turn to plan an outing. I have no idea what they've decided. There's one thing that is being discussed, I believe, but we won't know for sure until this week...maybe.
There was a little problem with the grill. Apparently whoever cleaned it forgot to turn the gas tanks off. So one was empty and one was nearly empty. It took FOR.EVER to grill the burgers and dogs.

Pies, Antiques, and Egg Rolls

After finding out it was National Pie Day I decided to make a pie. I had everything I needed for a chocolate pie. I put too much butter in the graham cracker crust, but it was still pretty tasty. Not the most creative pie to make for National Pie Day, but it's vintage.

Speaking of vintage, Bruce and I were out on our date and popped into a new antique and thrift store he found the other day. There were two high school year books there that he bought because his dad was in them.

His dad is the little fellow there, front row, middle. We always wondered who Harrison gets his build from and now we know! He even stands like him. It's hilarious.

Also in that book was Bruce's Aunt Dessie. Wasn't she purdy? She still is! She must have been quite popular because we found several pictures of her and she was involved in a lot of school activities. These year books were an exciting find!

After leaving the shop, which I think we'll be visiting often, we stayed in town and ate at an Asian buffet restaurant we like to go to.

My sweetheart!

My sweetheart's sweetheart!

We had a nice time today and enjoyed a cowboy flick with the kids when we got home with their pizza....followed by a slice of chocolate pie. After all, it IS National Pie Day!

I Just Found Out

Today is National Pie Day. I think I'll make one!

Come Out!

I read a quote recently that said,

What the church has done wrong is that it has
created these 'holy huddles' of Christian magazines, music and schools that have
set them apart from the world because the world is bad. Instead of doing what
Christ did, and bring light to the world, they retreat from it.

I suppose, to some people, this would be considered a deep theological thought, meant to prick the heart of any Christian. The person who thought of this quote obviously has an open mind, which really means they just have a big hole in their head. Which would explain the hole in that quote.

The world has their magazines, their music, and their schools. Most all of which are filled with filth. Most all of which are liberal in their thinking and their teachings. Most all of which mock a Holy God.

There is a reason they are called "the world" and we are called "Christian." Here are a couple of verses to ponder. I could expound on them, but hey, it's Bible. And the Bible speaks for itself.

Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." KJV

James 4:4 "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." KJV

Everyone seems to be in agreement of separation of church and state. Shouldn't we, as Christians, be in agreement of separation of church and world? After all, Christ taught that separation.

Yes, we have our magazines. Thank God I have something good in the house to read that won't fill my head with junk or pervert the mind of my sons and daughters. Yes, we have our music. Thank God I have them in my head and my heart because they bring me peace in the midst of trials and lift my spirit when I am feeling low. When I got saved, Christ gave me a NEW song to sing! And yes, we have our schools. Thank God our children have a place to go where there are teachers who are praying for our children instead of preying on our children!

Do I believe in shining the Light of Christ? Most definitely. But I do that in my standards. In the way I dress, the way I talk, the music I listen to. My faithfulness to my husband and my church. My attitude of servitude.

Too many Christians have become lackadaisical in their thinking. And do you know why? Because our magazines, our music and our schools have become under attack and are being run by a bunch of evangelicals that would rather change the mirror than the man in the mirror.

II Corinthians 6:17 "Wherefore, come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the LORD..."

The Big Snow of '09

Yeah, this is it, folks! Mind you, we don't get snow often, so this was a big deal today.

It was very cold this morning. It took me several attempts to get out of bed and plant my feet on the floor. But eventually I did it. My legs stayed cold all day though.

In case you're wondering, we did not go get a doughnut today. Free or not, I just didn't want to go outside.

Harrison, on the other hand, did want to go outside. He and the neighbor boy played and had a good time together.

They threw snowballs at each other.

Or rather, snow puffs. No sooner would their snowballs leave their clutches, it would turn into pure powder. Needless to say, there was little action on the side of a snowball fight today.

Nonetheless, they had a glorious time and I was glad.

Hannah and Justin followed my lead by staying warm inside! Smart kids....smart kids!

More Randomness

Friday night was our regular date night. We got out of here a little later than usual, but I had Hannah snap a picture of us before we left.

I am somewhat embarrassed to say that there are those in our church placing bets on where we end up eating on Friday nights. So for those of you wondering, this week it was........
SHOWMARS!
I think it's only fair that Bruce and I get a cut of the winnings if you win the bet.
(OK, for those of you about to pass out, there have been no actual wages made, so simmer down.)

The weather man is calling for snow, so in honor of this news and hope we had brownies with ice cream snowmen for dessert tonight. Mine had a chocolate chip bow on her head. Isn't she pretty?

I was going through a keepsake box Saturday while I was cleaning and found several rolls of film that need to be developed. I'll have one roll developed each week until they're all gone. I also found this little treasure. It's a locket Bruce bought me nineteen years ago when we were dating. The chain was very tiny and ended up breaking. I purchased another chain, which eventually broke. So I put it up until I bought another chain and sort of forgot about it. You know...out of sight, out of mind.

Bruce expected me to fit a picture on the inside, but instead I chose to keep the little heart shaped note that said I Love U tucked safely inside. He placed it in there before he gave it to me and I guess I'm just too sentimental to replace it with a picture.
