Fun in the....SNOW!

When I got up this morning, the kids were already outside playing in the snow. It doesn't come much here so when it's here we take advantage. Well, THEY take advantage. I stay in where it's warm. If I were an animal, I'd be a cat. Me no likey wet and cold.

Justin likes making mega snowballs to kill his siblings.

Hannah keeps her distance. She likes to stay in the "safe zones."

Harrison is your front-line warrior. He'll stand close and then run if he needs to. In this pic, he had just thrown a snowball at Justin. Just as I took the picture, the snowball lined up in front of Hannah's face. I didn't white her out. I promise.

There are some icicles hanging off our back porch I thought were pretty. I was able to get a few shots of water dripping from them.

This afternoon we were just sitting in the house doing whatever. We heard a loud noise out front and it was our neighbor. He had his tractor out scraping the ice off of our driveway. That was so nice of him. I'll make him and his wife some goodies soon.
Isn't it great to have friendly neighbors?
Proverbs 18:24, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and
there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

Let It Snow, Let It Snow....

Let it snow.
We've been anticipating snow for a week or so now. It started early this morning and we woke up to everything covered in white beauty. Hannah and Harrison couldn't wait to get out and play in it. We don't get much snow around these parts so when it does come we're very happy.

We took a snow day, like any other school. We slept in, I cooked a late breakfast, and we've been watching old movies most of the day. I have a lot of Christmas movies and one we didn't watch this year was Miracle on 34th Street. So we started with that one. We're watching musicals now. I'm sure my kids are thrilled. ha!

Trying to figure out what I'm cooking for supper. I have no idea. On days like today I want something warm and thick that sticks to the ribs. But what? Any suggestions? Mom has my mouth watering for cornbread from an iron skillet. So I know we're having that. But man can not live by bread alone. :D

Justin had his orientation yesterday afternoon at the Fire Academy. He was suppose to start today, but the weather closed his classes. He was so disappointed. Last night he was all pumped up and ready to go. Under normal circumstances he enjoys the snow. But it kind of threw a wrench in his plans so I don't think he loves it as much today as he did the last big snow we had here.

Hannah has been enjoying her Kindle most of today. I found a zebra print skin for it at Amazon. It was $20.00, but I got it free with my swagbucks!! :) I love swagbucks. If you don't know what swagbucks are, you can check it out in my sidebar.

Harrison has had fun playing in the snow with the neighbor. The one bad thing about living in the south where you rarely see snow, is that snow gloves are hard to come by. Bless his heart, his fingers are red and icy when he comes inside to warm up. Knitted gloves just don't do the job!

Bruce started a new schedule for the next six weeks or so that will bring him some overtime. It is a "curse" and a blessing at the same time. I say curse because he'll be away from the home more than usual. We miss him when he's not here.

We had two people saved at church last night. A fourteen year old boy and a visiting lady that came with another member. The services were great yesterday. Especially last night. I love it when the Lord moves and souls are saved.

I finished editing the wedding pics from last week. I can't wait for the bride and groom to see them. I think they'll be happy.

I hope you have enjoyed your day as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Friday Frolicking

I had a very good day yesterday. We knew the snow was coming so I was up early to get some things done before it got here. Justin and I went over to my parent's house and pulled their kerosene heater out of the building for them. Well, I sat in the house and talked with mom while Justin pulled the heater out. :)

When that was done, we headed out to the grocery store and got all the milk and bread they had left. ha ha...just kidding. But I did get all of my groceries picked up and back to the house just in time to make a lunch date with my friend, Betsy. We ate at one of my favorite places in town, The Cup and Saucer Tea Room. They have such great food there and their recipes are TOP SECRET! lol

We had a great girlie time and enjoyed some chit-chat!
We enjoyed a leisurely two hour and fifteen minute lunch with some funny stories and lots of laughs. I love her. LOL

When I got home, Bruce and I took off to run errands and have a date. We decided to check out the new Western Sizzlin' in Shelby. We ordered from the buffet, but I think next time I'd like to order off their menu.
When we finished up our supper, we exchanged Valentine cards and gifts. Of course he wrote me a very sweet poem. I love his poems. :) When we came back outside, the snow was beginning to fall and stick good.

We drove over to the mall and walked around inside for a while. We ran into a bunch of Bruce's kin folk and a couple of others he worked with at PPG.
When we came back out we decided to go home because we were afraid we would have a difficult time getting home. So we cut our date a little short.
This is my "is that snow" look.

This is the "Yeah, it IS snow!" look.

This is the "we have to cut our date short" look.

Hannah took this of me when we got home.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

It started snowing yesterday evening. It was so beautiful to watch and Harrison was happy to know he would be spending his Saturday playing in the white stuff.

He was up and ready to play outside first thing this morning. Yes, he has a shovel. He and his friend were shoveling snow at each other. It gives a whole new meaning to snowball.

Riddick

The boys would run and slide on patches of ice. They've had a blast today.

Our cat came up missing last weekend has suddenly showed up again today. He's missing an eyebrow, it looks like, and he doesn't look like he's been starving. As a matter of fact, he is looking quite fat. I'm guessing he found a mice colony somewhere in the cow pasture. No doubt he came home because of the snow, looking for his warm bed.
Did you get snow?

He's A Tar Heel Man!

The snow we received was a blessing. I really dislike being in the snow and anything wet, but I was hoping the children would get snow and they did! I guess we got between five and six inches. Which was plenty for a couple of days of playing in the snow. YAY!!!

Hannah and Harrison made this snowman. I thought he was cute. I'm afraid he won't last long though. The temps will be in the 70's this coming week. Which kind of blows my mind. But I sure am looking forward to it!

I love spring. Opening the windows, breathing in fresh air. Seeing the neighbor's flowers bloom. Knowing that our little birds will be back to build their nests in the tree that sits right in front of our porch. We'll hear them soon! It's just the nicest time of year for me. Well...I do enjoy fall too. But first things first!

Snow Makes Everything Purdy!

I was taking this picture from my back door last night and forgot to turn my flash off, which caused the reflectin of my camera over top the purdy snow. I thought it looked kind of neat.

And then some purdy trees this morning!

The sun was shining through the trees in this one. Purdy! Purdy!

Just a purdy winter wonderland!

The trampoline was even purdy!

This was not purdy! My neighbor's house had a tree fall on it last night.

And then we heard another pop later of their other tree splitting down the middle and falling in the road. This was not purdy either.

But look at the purdy blue skies behind these purdy trees!

And on these purdy trees!

Ain't that tree purdy too?

Harry and Ridick playing on the swingset in the purdy snow!

Justin was making purdy snowballs.

And they also made a purdy snowman.

Justin hit purdy Hannah in the head with a purdy snowball.

Busy Weekend!

For our date Friday night, Bruce and I hung out at the mall and then had dinner at Fatz. Denny's was on our list of restaurants, but we decided to skip over it.

This picture is cracking me up. I love him!

Our server was Lora. She was the sweetest little thing! She's a student in college and had such a bubbly personality. It was nice getting to know her. I gave her my blog addy so she could see her picture.
HI LORA! Thanks for being such a doll the other night!

After supper, Bruce ordered us both the brownie bites with ice cream and hot fudge. Oh dear...was it ever good!

I couldn't eat all of mine, but that didn't bother Bruce. He ate mine too!
What a mess! Half my meal was taken out in a to-go plate. My teenage vaccuum cleaner had it scarfed down ten minutes after we got home. lol

Saturday evening we met the kids from our youth group at the church and ventured on an outing to the Concord Mills Mall.

Brother RJ and Mrs. Liz drove the girl's van, while Bruce and I drove the boy's van.

It was really icky out!

When we finally made it to the mall, we ate supper in the food court, then split up in groups. I walked the mall with Raven and Alexis. Those are a couple of funny, funny girls! They rode this simulator but said, "...it was lame." So I guess they were less than impressed.

We hit a good many stores! Girlfriends like to shop!

Caleb was telling me all about the different cars that were parked in the middle of the mall. He LOVES cars!

"E" was showing me her Nine West shoes she bought. Aren't they pretty?

Hannah bought a new purse, wallet, and necklace.

The kids took some time to stop in the mall and chat with each other.

Jeremy and Evan

Mrs. Liz packed Brother RJ up with lots of new goodies, which he had to carry to the van because she wasnt' finished shopping yet! hehe

*sigh* My son

Kendra-girl! Pretty smile!

I saw this woman at the food court and I want my hair just like that! lol

The snow was coming our way up from Georgia so Pastor was doing something a little different tonight seeing we would probably have to leave early. He had the preacher boys from ABC come up and preach two to three minute messages. They did such a good job seeing they had no previous warning. The first one up was Doug.

The second was Nathan.
Between Nathan and Bradley the new trio I sing with got up to sing and so I didn't have my camera when Bradley preached. Then we sang again and I didn't have my camera when Troy preached. So I missed them. But I'll get 'em eventually.

The last thing we did tonight was baptize. Celine got saved the other week and wanted to be baptized tonight. What a sweetheart. Her mom wanted me to get pictures, but I didn't realize we would be staying at the piano for so long. So by the time I got my camera and got to where I could get her being baptized, this was the only picture I got.
:(

Pastor dismissed us earlier than usual because the snow was coming down fast and hard. It was pretty scary driving home. All you Northerners out there are thinking, "HA! What snow?" But for us who never get it like this it was something else!

Hannah took a pic of me with snow in my hair.

Bruce and the kids opened the back door to see the snow. Bruce made a snowball and tossed it over the deck. It landed right on Tipsy's head and this was the reaction from Harrison. I'm sure they're going to LOVE playing in the snow tomorrow!!
