Sleepless Weekend

Bruce and I went on our Friday date night and it was a lot of fun. I wanted to play putt putt, but the truth of it is, we were both exhausted. So after we ate supper and stopped for a milkshake we headed on home. But not before stopping to pick the kids up a frosty from Wendy's. Bruce always brings them back something on Friday night. It's so funny, too, because if they hear us pull up in the driveway, they'll pile out on porch to see what goodies we brought home. And what's so crazy is we usually bring home Krispy Kreme when we get out to Gastonia, and although we were RIGHT THERE, I don't think either one of us even thought about it because we were so tired. LOL

Anyway, we came home and watched a movie with the Hannah and Harry and then crashed. And boy, did we crash!! It wasn't even 11:30 yet and I was sound asleep. But around 1:45 am, I was startled up out of bed when a small gnat flew up my nostril. I jumped up in the dark, making my way to the bathroom, all the time blowing my nose.

Of course this woke Bruce up who asked, "Are you ok?" Well, I was, indeed, ok, so I crawled back in bed. But I couldn't go back to sleep.

I've agreed to do something for someone and, although very excited about the opportunity, I am really scared too! But I know the Lord will help me do a good job for them and I'm looking forward to it. At any rate, it kept me up thinking of all the different things I'll need to do.

About an hour after the gnat incident and laying there thinking, Bruce woke up to use the bathroom. He never did go back to sleep after that and quite frankly, neither did I. I had stopped thinking about my upcoming opportunity (which I promise to elaborate on later) and started thinking about the ladies meeting I was going to Saturday morning. Which was in just a few hours.

Thinking about the ladies meeting got me thinking about grocery shopping and some things we really needed picked up before the kids got up for breakfast. And what would Bruce and Harry eat for lunch while Hannah and I were at the meeting and Justin was at the Fire Department?

So at 6:30 I got up, dressed for the meeting, and was at the grocery store a few minutes after 7:00. Did my shopping, got home and put things away, and had just enough time to put my make up on and freshen up a bit before the meeting.

I thought for sure I'd fall asleep during the meeting, but it was so good I didn't feel tired at all and I'm so glad I went.

Needless to say come Saturday night I was a little whipped. It was about 1:30 when I finally got in bed and I slept like a baby up until Bruce started snoring. I had to giggle quietly as I laid there and listened to him snore, whistle, ahhhhh....snore, whistle, ahhhhh....snore, whistle, ahhhhh....even when he's sleeping my man has rhythm.

Taking a Stroll

Bruce has been so sick the last couple of weeks and before that we had so much going on with Justin's graduation and Hannah's birthday that we really haven't seen much of each other. So last night was a good date night for us. Even though we're together everyday, I've missed him. Doesn't make much sense to some people, I'm sure, but I've needed time with my darlin'.

We ate supper at Mi Pueblito and then took a walk on the new Gateway Trail uptown.

This sign explains the trail, but if you can't read it, it says that the trail will eventually link fifteen counties in North and South Carolina.

Bruce was showing me on the map which trail we were on.

They have a nice little picnic area with a couple of grills.

And plenty of tables.

I thought this was pretty. You know the white fluffy seeds that blow through the air? I don't know what they're called...anyway, this little pond was covered in them and it was so pretty.

We stopped for a couple of pictures. :D

The path was like this about the whole way. We heard birds chirping and singing. They sounded so sweet.

This little guy was sliming his way across the path too. He seemed to be making pretty good time....considering he's a snail.

There was so much kudzu. I know kudzu grows like crazy in these parts, but I have never seen so much, ever! Maybe I've just never paid attention. But it surprised me how much of it covered the area and surrounding area.

More path and....more kudzu.

I'm wondering which way my brother in law goes when he runs.

I spotted some Queen Anne's Lace on the trail. Pretty, no?

And of course there were other pretties along the way that makes me smile at how much God loves us to create even the smallest of beauties.

works...."

Friday Frolicking

I had a very good day yesterday. We knew the snow was coming so I was up early to get some things done before it got here. Justin and I went over to my parent's house and pulled their kerosene heater out of the building for them. Well, I sat in the house and talked with mom while Justin pulled the heater out. :)

When that was done, we headed out to the grocery store and got all the milk and bread they had left. ha ha...just kidding. But I did get all of my groceries picked up and back to the house just in time to make a lunch date with my friend, Betsy. We ate at one of my favorite places in town, The Cup and Saucer Tea Room. They have such great food there and their recipes are TOP SECRET! lol

We had a great girlie time and enjoyed some chit-chat!
We enjoyed a leisurely two hour and fifteen minute lunch with some funny stories and lots of laughs. I love her. LOL

When I got home, Bruce and I took off to run errands and have a date. We decided to check out the new Western Sizzlin' in Shelby. We ordered from the buffet, but I think next time I'd like to order off their menu.
When we finished up our supper, we exchanged Valentine cards and gifts. Of course he wrote me a very sweet poem. I love his poems. :) When we came back outside, the snow was beginning to fall and stick good.

We drove over to the mall and walked around inside for a while. We ran into a bunch of Bruce's kin folk and a couple of others he worked with at PPG.
When we came back out we decided to go home because we were afraid we would have a difficult time getting home. So we cut our date a little short.
This is my "is that snow" look.

This is the "Yeah, it IS snow!" look.

This is the "we have to cut our date short" look.

Hannah took this of me when we got home.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

A Good Weekend!

We were supposed to go to a friend's house for a get-together with some other families in our church last night, but I was not feeling well so we decided to stay home instead. I really hate we had to miss. I'm sure everyone had a great time. :(

Since our evening would be spent at home and since all three of our children were home, which NEVER happens on the weekends anymore, Bruce sent Justin to Pizza Hut for pizza and we watched a movie together. It was a really nice evening and I enjoyed the time we were able to spend together.

Today I got up feeling a little better. I was more tired than anything, I think. But I was able to spend the entire day with Bruce. And that was nice too. We went grocery shopping, hit a couple of Good Wills where I found this cute wall hanging...

and this pie plate.

We had a late lunch at Mi Pubs, test drove a car,

made a stop at Old Navy, picked up some Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and hit McDonald's for the kids before returning home. I was so tired I fell asleep watching a DVD with the family that Harry got for Christmas. At one point my entire family yelled my name to wake me up. That was disturbing. But I did manage to stay awake after that. LOL Then they watched a short film in 3-D. There were only four glasses so I decided to give my nursery workers a call while they watched the film. I did get this picture though. :)

Oh, and Bruce and I played a game of putt putt here in the living room. That was fun. He laid a cup down on its side and that was the hole. It's way harder than you'd think. But I did manage to get a hole in one.
:)

So that was our weekend. I'm looking forward to church tomorrow. I'm going expecting a blessing. And when you go expecting a blessing, God never disappoints you!

Friday Night

Friday night is our usual date night. This week, we took Justin and Kelsey with us. Bruce let them pick where we would eat. Justin wanted Love's Fish Box so we went there. When we got there they had this Christmas tree in front of the window. It was decorated in a fish theme, of course.

We also ran into Wanda and her husband. We'll see them in one of two places. The dentist office, where Wanda is the receptionist, or somewhere about town at a restaurant. LOL Whey they finished their supper, they sat with us and talked for a good thirty minutes or so. It was so nice! I enjoyed it. They are just the nicest people!!

Bruce and me :D

Justin and Kelsey (Bruce insisted we take pictures in front of the fish tree.) OK, he didn't have to insist. But he did suggest it. :D

When we left Love's, we drove through the lights on Margrace. This is one house, by the way. He has a circle driveway around his house and you just drive through. He has lights everywhere!! Every year he adds something new. It's really something. Here are just a FEW pictures of his lights.

When we got home we decided to watch a Christmas movie. Kelsey had never seen The Snowman so we watched that.
It was a nice evening and we had a good time.

Randomness and Happy Birthday, Mrs. Ava

This post is on our weekend. We had a good one. I hope you did too!

The children wrapped up another successful week of homeschooling. Notice Harrison's tongue. He concentrates so much better with it sticking out.

After school, Harrison and I went shopping for him some new clothes. He was in such need of clothes. Found some GREAT deals!! Seven pants, seven shirts, dress shoes, a 10 pack of play socks, three pairs of dress socks, and a USA hoodie. So he's set for winter now! I am so thankful for that!!!

We ran a few other errands and then made it home to put away groceries and relax a little bit before Bruce and I went out for our weekly date. As we were leaving, my neighbor was checking her box so I grabbed her picture. She is so sweet. A good neighbor. A great friend!

We ate at my new favorite Mexican restaurant. LOVE me some Mi Pueblito's!

Here's Bruce with a chip stuck to his chin. LOL Gotta love my man!

And I'll be the first to say that here in the south a fried bologna sandwich with a little mustard, a lot of DUKE'S mayo, and a slice of cheese and mater is a great sandwich. But only in the south will you find a fast food restaurant that sells fried bologna biscuits. Thank you, Hardees, for contributing to southern eating!

When we left Mi Pueblito, we decided last minute...and I mean last minute...to stop by a local church and see Gold City in concert.

Once again....only in the south....will you find an offering being taken up in KFC buckets.

The concert was really good. We had a great time. Bruce's Aunt Judy and mom were there so I took their pictures with Daniel Riley and the new guy....sorry, I can't remember his name! But I got tickled at Aunt Judy. She was sticking her tongue out at someone and I didn't notice it until after we were already walking back to the car! She's so crazy!

Brother Gene and Brother Thornburg were there also. We were all diesel sniffers this weekend. hehe

Sunday morning was beautiful. I'm just lovin' the fall weather. I ended up over sleeping. I didn't wake up until 8:40. I couldn't believe it!! Thankfully my two darlings were up and ready to go on time. And we actually made it to Sunday school before it started.

The parsonage is coming together nicely. They've added the garage. This is a terrible picture of it. I'll get a better one later.

They're also getting the rock on the front. It's gonna be so pretty when they're finished. There was a crew out there working this morning and Pastor kindly told them that this was the church parsonage and we believed in worship on Sunday and they could come back another day to work. They were very understanding and honored that request.

Besides the weather, another thing I like about fall are the beautiful flowers. We had fresh fall flowers planted and they were lovely. I believe Brother Mark planted the flowers.

Pretty, huh?

Mrs. Janet had the giant cornucopia out in front of the church doors. I just love it!

Our weekend ended with two wonderful services at church, followed by a birthday party for our wonderful pastor's wife, Mrs. Ava.

The food line...

Marla was trying to get her little girl to whistle.

Brother Tim got a new hair cut!

Some more of the youth....

Brother Wayne saying, "That'll be on the blog." And he was right!

Our newest friends at Faith, the Dellingers. Oh, I hope I got their name right. LOL Their little grandson is our neighbor and he and Harrison play together a lot. They're a very sweet couple.

Love these ladies! Mrs. Jenny, Mrs. Rector, and Mrs. Carolyn. Sweet, sweet, ladies!

Jennifer showing off her "baby bump" as my little friend Courtney calls it. We're going to take a picture of her tummy each month and watch her grow. LOL

Brother Johnny and Mrs. Vondie's little boy was having fun being pushed around in the high chair.

Mrs. Janet washing dishes.....

Brother Wayne and Pastor were sucking in their guts after chowing down. ROFL

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Ava. You are truly a wonderful lady and I've learned so much from you. You're a great teacher, excellent speaker, and a great testimony to all that know you. We love you so much!!!
