Museum, Fountains, and....the Flu?

The jury is still out on what I've got....or gotten rid of. After a conversation with my mother in law I feel as though Bruce and I both have had the stomach virus AND the flu. Which would explain his all over body aches Sunday and the fever I was running last night. I also feel like I've been beat with a sledgehammer and that my head is swimming in goo, as I mentioned on my facebook status.

While Justin and Hannah are gone this week, I wanted to do some activities with Harry. I wasn't feeling GREAT today, but felt like I could make a trip with him out to our local museum and then to the Patriot's Park to let him play in the fountains. So I took my book, packed him a lunch, and we left.
The museum was doing an exhibit on what our ancestors wore.

It was very interesting. They had all kinds of mannequins dressed in period pieces and display cases filled with articles of clothing and shoes. They also had a few pieces for the children to try on. Harrison tried on this vest and top hat and tried flirting with this mannequin...who wouldn't give him the time of day.

After the museum, I stopped at the store so Harry could run in and get himself a drink to take to the Patriot's Park. Mom and dad pulled up beside us and decided to go with us to watch him play in the fountains. It was nice. They brought lunch and drinks for all of us. It was so good to sip on that cold soda when it was so hot outside. Sitting under the shade was nice too.

This is the top of the Gazebo there in Patriot's Park. A nice looking place. I just wish they'd put a couple of benches in the gazebo. That would be nice. It's so spacious I don't know why they haven't done that. Maybe because they have bands and things in there sometimes.

The flower garden had a few pretty flowers still in bloom and the bees were just a-buzzin'!

And of course Harrison had a blast playing in the cool water.

By the time we were done at the park my body was ready to give out. I could barely lift my arms to unlock the door. Right now I'm going to lay down and probably stay down the rest of the evening.
I'm glad I was able to do something with Harrison today.

Off To Camp and A Couple of Pics

I dropped the kids off at the church yesterday afternoon. They left for camp between services in hopes of making it to the camp's church for their Sunday evening service. Justin and Hannah were really excited about leaving for camp. This is Justin's last year. I've been worried about Justin coming down with the virus while he's at camp. He's the only one in our family that hadn't come down with it. I really hope it stays that way. I'd hate to think of him being up there sick, away from home....his own bed. I haven't heard from them so no news is good news, right?

On the way home from dropping them off I saw this little guy perched on top of an old birdhouse. He was just singing his little heart out. I decided to call him Sunday Songbird. He was just so sweet. He definitely was feeling better than I was. I wished I could have felt like singing the way he did.

We've had several frogs hanging around our house. Mainly the front porch. Bruce and I were sitting on the porch the other night and he told me there was a frog that had been living in a bucket under one of our porch benches.

Today I decided to sit on the front porch and just watch and listen to the rain, which we haven't seen in several weeks. I glanced over to the bucket under that bench and there sat this little guy.

It rained for fifteen to twenty minutes and he sat there, just like this, the entire time. I guess he was enjoying the rain as much as I was. LOL

When the rain stopped, he fell back down into his bucket.

Later in the evening it started raining again and he decided to enjoy it one more time. This time he hopped out of the bucket and sat where the rain would hit him a little bit. When the rain stopped, he went back into his bucket.
Isn't he cute?

Sick With A Capital "ICK"

So now it is Sunday. Still not feeling up to par. Woke up with a terrible tummy-ache around 8:30. Went back to sleep until 10:00. It's almost 11:30 now and Bruce is still in bed. He spent ten hours in bed yesterday. This is not a usual characteristic of Bruce. You know he's sick when he stays in bed like that.

I was feeling ok when I got up yesterday. I took my time getting ready to go grocery shopping. I felt a little dizzy when I got out of the shower, but when I sat down I was ok. So I went on to the store.

I stopped at the Dollar Tree to pick up new toothbrushes for everyone. You know they have packs of two Colgate brushes there for a $1. I always buy new brushes when we get sick. Well, that's not the only time, but most definitely when we've been sick. I've always been perplexed at when to start using the new toothbrush. Do you continue to use the old brush while you're sick? Do you keep giving yourself the illness with that brush? Or do you start using the new brush right away? And if so, does that mean you're contaminating the new brush? And should I buy more brushes when we're feeling completely better? These are questions that I ALWAYS have in my head when we've been sick.

Anyway, I started feeling dizzy at Dollar Tree again. So I sat in the car for a minute after checking out. It passed again. Cato's was there near the Dollar Tree and I had gift cards. So I went in, looked around for a minute before I started feeling dizzy again and just turned around and walked out. That's when you know I'M sick!

I made my way to Wal Mart for groceries. Never in my life have I ever noticed how long that store is. I made it through the grocery section, but not without wanting to just sit down where I was and pass out. I seriously considered just leaving my buggy and going home, but that would mean having to come back and start over. So I finished and came home.

When I got home, Harrison had started throwing up again. He seems to be feeling better this morning, but I kept him home with Bruce and me while Justin and Hannah went to church.

Speaking of Justin and Hannah...when they get home from church they'll eat lunch and then I have to drive them back to the church to drop them off for camp. This is Justin's last year at camp and he's both excited and a little bummed.

I know they'll have a great time. I'll miss them while they're away, but looking forward to some fun time with Harry. I have plans to attend a local revival service with him, maybe a day at Monkey Joe's, a day at the park, etc. That is....if we can pass this horrible bug. I hope we're not sick all week. :( That would be a bummer.

Right now we're just laying around. I thought some fresh juice would be good for my tummy so I juiced some carrots with an apple and a few strawberries and it was very good. Harry drank some too and loved it. I'm always amazed at the amount of juice you can get from just a handful of carrots.

I hope everyone has a Happy Lord's Day!

2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather
glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

PULL OVER!!!

It's been a long while since we've had a stomach bug in the house. Hannah came down with it Wednesday night. Since then, Bruce and I have been feeling sick. No visual effects, but the feeling is there. It's at that point where you just wish something would hurry up and happen because feeling this way really slows a body down.

The kids were on their way to pick up some things for camp. They called and said Harrison had gotten sick and they were on their way back home to drop him off. Bless his heart. This is kind of a funny story. The more I thought about it the funnier it became until I was literally squirting tears and laughing hysterically. Poor kid...

So Justin is driving down the road. Hannah is in the passenger's seat. Harrison is in the back seat of the car lying down. The fact he was lying down would have been a good clue he wasn't feeling good. But the two teenagers in the front seat didn't pick up on it. Anyway, as they're driving down Franklin Blvd (which is three lanes both ways) Justin feels a tap on his shoulder. He turns to look at Harrison who is holding his head in such a way that THIS clue tips off both teenagers he's fixin' to hurl. Hannah begins yelling, "PULL THE CAR OVER! PULL OVER!!!" Unfortunately for all of them, there was no way or no where to stop the car with other cars whizzing by them. The only two options were to, A: let Harrison vomit in the car, or, B: roll the window down and hang his head out. They all knew option A was a really bad idea. So option B was implemented. Down goes the window, out goes Harrison's head. He immediately released the last day or so of food buildup on his stomach. Most of which ended up splattered all over the back of the car, down his car door, and the tire . I can only imagine the thoughts of the people driving by them as they watched with horror, a little boy puking his guts up riding down the blvd. Needless to say they made it back home. Harrison got sick once he walked back into the house but is now resting quietly in bed and a glass of coke within reach. Justin washed the car....obviously....and he and Hannah took off once again to finish their camp shopping.

Oh me, oh my....the things that happen in life, right?

Home

It's Wednesday night and I should be at church. But Hannah has come down with the stomach virus. It came on just a few minutes before she and Justin were going to leave for orchestra practice. Since then she's been in her bed or bowing before the porcelain throne. Bless her heart. I hope she's better soon and it doesn't go through the whole house. But I figure it's probably going to so I'm mentally ready for it. *sigh*

I've been told I'm a piece of work, so here I am as artwork. Mona ain't got nothin' on me. ha haa

We've had "Baby Girl" and "Tater Tot" the last couple of days. They're the foster daughters of some sweet people in our church. I haven't taken any pictures of them, which I really regret. I've stayed pretty busy and honestly haven't thought about it. Well, I have, but it was always when I was cleaning, doing laundry, or cooking. If they come Friday I'll have to take some. They are the cutest little girls and so sweet. We've enjoyed having them.

We had the Rohrer family over for supper last night. It looks as though they'll be moving out of state in the next week or so. It's going to be difficult packing everything up and moving to a whole new place. They started their family here. Their children have been raised in our church. All of their friends are here. They're involved in ministries here. But I know God is moving them for a reason and that He has a great church, good friends, and other ministries waiting for them where they're going.

We haven't started on our new building for the church yet. We're still waiting on some papers to arrive so we can get started on that. Seems like anytime things like this are going on, you're always waiting on "paper work." Red tape isn't all it's cracked up to be. LOL Can I just say, "HEY, RED TAPE PEOPLE, HOW 'BOUT SOME PAPERWORK ALREADY???" :) I figure it won't be too much longer.

A bloggy friend wanted to know if I had skype so she could call and talk to me about something. I do, but I was telling her the webcam on my laptop isn't working. Then I remembered I have another webcam Bruce bought me. But I can't find it. I found the little CD to install it, but the camera is no where to be found. I know it's around here somewhere. It's just a matter of where. As I finished typing that I thought of a place it's probably at. See, sometimes you just have to talk it out.

Well, I started this much earlier this evening and now here it is almost 12:00 am. I'm shutting it down and going to bed.

Goodnight, friends.

Our Fourth of July Weekend

Date night this weekend was spent at the Chinese restaurant...

followed by fireworks at our local mall. We laid out a sheet on the ground of a local business and waited for the display to begin. I believe Bruce could have fallen asleep if we had waited much longer. Bless his heart. He's so exhausted on Friday nights.

The display was good, although it wasn't as good as it has been in the past. A little disappointed, but I have to say the evening was nice with my hubby.

On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at my parent's home for a cookout. My brother and nephew were there, along with the O'family and the Coopers.
(This is me and my nephew. He's only 15 and still has a few more years to grow.)

Mom was getting the burgers ready for the boys to grill.

Justin and Mikey did a great job on the grill. The burgers were yumm-O-licious.

Mom had these little cupcakes and they went like hotcakes!

Mrs. Cooper (She and her hubby are missionaries here to the states. They go to IFB churches around the states helping with their building projects. They're attending our church while waiting for our building projects to begin. They have been such a blessing!! What a sweet family!)

Justin was chillin' in the shade, enjoying the peacefulness.

My daddy...

H Cooper was thinking about the word she had for the game we were playing. A day with mom and dad usually includes a game of Catch Phrase.

S Cooper is funny gal.

Brother Cooper!

"Little John" playing Catch Phrase. Bless his heart, his feet were attacked by ants. NOT FUN!

Hannah~Banna

Brother John O's mama...love her!

Brother John O' :)

Mi madre.

Mrs. Kim....love her too!!!

No July 4th celebration is complete until you've had ice cream. :)

We had some pickin' and singin' too. The Cooper family brought their instruments and Bruce and Justin brought theirs. It was nice.
We had mandolins...

Guitars...

Harmonicas...

Flutes...

More guitars...

And a Celtic harp. Love that sound!!

This big guy was way up in a tree watching our festivities. ICK

After the cookout, Bruce and I took the kids to our town's firework display. They were fantastic!! This one had a heart shape in it. They had a few with smilies too.

It was a great 4th of July weekend. And Sunday we continued to celebrate GOD AND COUNTRY with Patriotic services combined with old fashioned preaching and singing. I had nursery Sunday morning and enjoyed the time with the little ones. But I also enjoyed the services Sunday night.
I hope each of you enjoyed your 4th too!

Are You IFB or FBI??

I was recently in a discussion with a few people. Some IFB (Independent Fundamental Baptist) and some that were not. The discussion was turned to separation of the IFB from the world. There were comments made about the IFB being full of fakes and pretenders. Comments made that if an IFB attends a movie theater they're a hypocrite. And some other things along the line of the topic were brought out. Some that made me stop and think, "They've gotta point." Others that made me think, "Bitter with no right." And others that made me think, "I'm still right on that!" LOL

Am I upset with these people because they don't agree 100% with me? No. I love 'em. And it was an open discussion without hateful words.

But the discussion left me with many thoughts. I never did mention the discussion to Bruce, although he did find out about it all on his own, but never mentioned it to me until Wednesday night before church. His thoughts and feelings were the same as mine and, although, I felt much of what I said was blown up out of context as to my meaning, he got it. He knew what I was trying to say and he agreed with it.

Again, we never said ANYTHING about it and then Wed night in Pastor's message, guess what he bumped on a little bit? Are we IFB (Independent Fundamental Baptist) or FBI (Fundamental Baptist Investigators)? And then not only did God send my Pastor to reaffirm what I was thinking, but He used my daily devotion to confirm it also.

The biggest part of the discussion to me was whether or not someone who does something an IFB is known for not doing because of separation is a hypocrite. Not going to the movies, women not wearing pants, not smoking...these things do not make you IFB anymore than sitting in a garage makes you a car. But where do you draw the lines of separation and when is it all right to call our brothers and sisters in Christ a hypocrite?

The definition of a hypocrite is someone who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc. that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs. A person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions or statements belie his or her public statements.

So, I would have to say the only way I could call someone a hypocrite in this area is if they said or taught that certain things were wrong and then went out and did it.

Another issue was brought up in this discussion and it was about you not agreeing with something your pastor preaches against and you do it anyway. Does that make you a hypocrite? No, because you never said you agreed. Does it damage your children? I think it can if you have a rebellious attitude. I'm sure that there are those that would say, "Well, I know what Pastor said is right, but I don't care, I'm gonna do it anyway." And not just on one subject, but on several. Where are they now? They're seeking out friendships with people who will accept them in their comfort zones. People they don't feel uncomfortable around because they all have that same rebellious attitude.

Others may say that a child being raised in a more liberal home has a better chance in their walk with Christ under a preacher who preaches more along the lines of their standards, than a child who is under a preacher that preaches against certain things and the parent has a rebellious attitude and does it anyway. The key words there are *rebellious attitude.* If you don't agree with your pastor, and I'm sorry, you will never agree with him on 100% of everything he says and does, don't tear him down. Not to your friends, your family, and especially your children. Have respect for the man of God and his office. If he steps out of line Biblically, it's time to move on.

Now, if he's preaching "thus saith the Lord" it doesn't matter if you agree with him or not, because it's God's words, not his, and your problem is with God. But if he's preaching his opinion on something, you may not agree with it and whatever you do, do not run him down for his opinion. Talk it over with your spouse and children and discuss it. But never put him down.

Anyway, Pastor brought out the FBI statement Wednesday night in his sermon and Bruce and I just looked at each other and laughed. Jesus said the world would hate us for his name's sake. But when it comes to the brothers and sisters we need to love and encourage one another. If we have a few brothers and sisters that hate us, well chances are, there's something wrong on their part. But if brothers and sisters can't stand us everywhere we go, that's really not a badge to be proud to wear. And it's definitely not Christ like. He was hated by the world. But He was loved by those He preached to with longsuffering and love. This doesn't mean we have to agree with a lifestyle of a brother and sister. We can still love them, still encourage them, still pray for them. But if they're living outside God's Word in open sin, you have to break fellowship with them and let them know why. To go around with a magnifying glass, lying in wait for someone to do something you don't agree with, well, that's just wrong. Never having encouraging words. Always rebuke. Eventually people just stop listening to you because that's all they ever get from you. Rebuke is important, don't get me wrong. I need my toes stepped on often! But it's not the only thing there is. We're also commanded to love and encourage one another.

The Bible says in Phil 2:12 that we are to work out our OWN salvation in fear and trembling. How can I work out my own salvation when I'm so focused on everyone else I don't see the flaws in my own Christian walk? Who am I to sit in judgement on someone else's standards and convictions? Can we inspect the fruit? Oh yeah....we're definitely fruit inspectors. If someone isn't bearing fruit and professing Christianity, there's something wrong there. But if they're bearing fruit, encourage them in their work of the Lord and live an example before them in your standards and convictions.

The Bible doesn't say not to smoke. But it's a nasty habit and doesn't set a good testimony. Not to mention your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost!
There's nothing said about women wearing pants vs skirts/dresses, but when you dress in modest skirts and dresses, people do notice the difference.

Does smoking make you a hypocrite? Or wearing pants instead of skirts and dresses? No, not unless you say it's wrong and do it anyway. These are those things you have to work out in your own salvation. And if you're praying and reading your Bible, God will show you those things in your life you need to be working on. It's not up to me to smack you down at every turn. I can speak my mind. I can take a stand. But I should do it in love. It's easy to say you speak in love, but if there is an arrogance in your stand it's like the seed that falls on stony ground and among thorns.

I am not God's FBI. But I am IFB. I am IFB because I do hold to the most important factors of the Independent Fundamental Baptist doctrine. I am not a fake IFB. I am not pretending to be IFB. I am IFB. For all things, I try to seek God's wisdom and discernment. His guidance upon every facet of my life. And in the process, praying He uses me as a positive example to others.

I prayed and asked God to show me something to set my heart where it needed to be and the next morning, this was my devotion for the day:

Matthew 7:2 "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

This statement is not a haphazard guess, it is an eternal law of God. Whatever judgment you give, it is measured to you again. There is a difference between retaliation and retribution. Jesus says that the basis of life is retribution--"with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." If you have been shrewd in finding out the defects in others, remember that will be exactly the measure given to you. Life serves back in the coin you pay. This law works from God's throne downwards. Psalm 18:25-26 "With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward."

Romans 2 applies it in a still more definite way and says that the one who criticizes another is guilty of the very same thing. God looks not only at the act, He looks at the possibility. We do not believe the statements of the Bible to begin with. For instance, do we believe this statement, that the things we criticize in others we are guilty of ourselves? The reason we see hypocrisy and fraud and unreality in others is because they are all in our own hearts. The great characteristic of a saint is humility --Yes, all those things and other evils would have been manifested in me but for the grace of God, therefore I have no right to judge.

Jesus says -- "judge not, that ye be not judged"; -- if you do judge, it will be measured to you exactly as you have judged. Who of us would dare to stand before God and say --"My God, judge me as I have judged my fellow men?" We have judged our fellow men as sinners; if God should judge us like that, we would be in hell. God judges us through the marvelous Atonement of Jesus Christ."
