Rescue 911, Friday

Each night, Brother Johnny was swarmed by children requesting to hold a flag.

Here you see Brother Johnny helping K with her flag. He was about to have a heart attack every time it came near the floor so he decided to help her hold it up. Good job, Brother Johnny!

Our Pastor is so American, even his dog, Bubba, says the pledges. What is UP with those eyes, though?

Tonight was hot dog night. The children AND the workers were glad to have dogs and all the fixins. Brother David and Brother Greg manned the grill. Thanks, y'all!

Mom and dad even made it tonight. They haven't missed teaching Bible school in almost 40 years and it was really nice to see them there tonight.

Red icing on a napkin was all that was left from daddy's cupcake. And I hear there wasn't much left from his dog either.

This is a newer member to our church. She is quiet, but has been helpful and has a great smile to share with others. She's a go-getter too, bringing new people to church all the time. We have seen several of her visitors give their heart to Christ.

Sadly, I did not recognize this little fellow until his grandmother told me who he was. Last time I saw him he was a pudgy little baby in our nursery with blonde hair that stood up on end and waved at ya. He's growing up!

And once again we have Faith posing silly with icing all over her. What a little Missy she is!

The three year olds were decked out in their crowns tonight. Aren't they cute?

The penny war of 2008 ended tonight and the buckets weighed.
The girls total weight: 92 pounds
The boys total weight: 180 pounds
Yep, that's right...the boys POUNDED the girls in pennies tonight. Needless to say, Jennifer got the pie in the face. I felt bad for her at first, but then didn't feel bad at all once she made her entrance onto the platform.

In all fairness, Brother Johnny made her take off the face shield.

When Jonathan went to smash the pie in her face, she jumped up and retaliated with a can of whipped cream.

Yes, a match made in Heaven, these two. Should make for an interesting marriage....less than 45 days away!

It's been a wonderful week and I was blessed to teach such a great and funny class of five year olds. And I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Kellie, Linda, Amy, and Carla for helping in the class this week. What would I have done without y'all?? Y'all were GREAT!

And to close out my week long post on VBS, I think this picture of little Ethan is a great example of what each VBS worker is looking forward to tonight!

Rescue 911, Thursday

This is one of the cutest little guys in our church and he is absolutely hilarious to watch. He has so much energy and life. We love him bunches!

Selina is one of our bus kids and she is in my class for VBS. She's been sweet.

The little ones really do love the puppets!

Bro Greg, Bro Brian, and Bro Joel

Mrs. Rebecca and Mrs. Crystal were getting the popsicles ready for the younguns.

Melissa and Bradley. He's our sound man. They're sweethearts.

The temperature was not as hot as it has been. But the popsicles were still appreciated.

Water break with Sgt Major Ross (Hehe, Kellie, your words, not mine. Love ya!)

For crafts tonight, we did the children's painted hand prints on carpet swatches. They were also allowed to dip sponge shapes into the paint and add them to their carpet. Lemme tell ya...not as easy as it sounds!!

Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah!
Praise ye the Lord!

Penny war time!

Boys won BIG tonight. Not lookin' good for Jenn!

I hope she likes whipped cream.

Rescue 911, Wednesday

Celine....ain't she cute?

This is Destiny. She's been a bus kid since we started the bus ministry. She used to be a wild child, but I hear she's growing up and has become quite the sweetheart!

We do not cancel Wednesday prayer meeting because of VBS. Prayer meeting starts a little later than usual though. Some of those that came from prayer meeting got involved in singing Father Abraham with us. There in the middle is Brother Bill and his wife. Brother Billy was just saved not too long ago. They're a blessing.

Tonight was cupcake night. The children were glad of that. Look at Cameron's face. Is he not a doll? I could just squeeze his little cheeks every time I see him....gently, of course.

Julie had a difficult time getting her little mouth around the enormous mound of icing on her cupcake.

Apparently so did this little cutie!

In keeping with our Rescue theme, the National Guard was showing us one of their jeeps. Harrison LOVED that!

I had a surprise for the children tonight. It's been so hot, Amy suggested small water guns. So I went to Dollar Tree yesterday and picked up several packs of four. Oh, you'll like this story...I went in specifically for water guns. But as I was looking for them, I saw those Little Debbie jelly cream pies. You know the ones, right? Well, I was so happy about finding those, because I love 'em, that I took them up front to check out. It wasn't until I was walking out the door and noticed the water guns on the wall that I realized I had not purchased what I came in for. HA! I had to laugh at myself.
Well, I didn't buy enough guns so I just filled them with water and saved them for tonight. The children had a ball squirting each other outside. Because you know, we wouldn't want them squirting the water guns INside. That would be teaching them something naughty.
Brother Randy and Mrs. Kellie, however, seemed to enjoy squirting each other inside. Oh dear...if the adults never behave, how can we expect the children to?

Tonight's puppeteers!

Marigrace and her daddy, Brother Jeff.

The little ones love the puppets and try to get as close to them as possible. It's good to see them all at the alter, isn't it? hehe

And now, the many faces of Faithy.....

Like her mama, this one!

Our National Guardsmen (Brother Jeff and Brother Jay) weighed the pennies tonight.

WOO HOO!!! GIRLS WON!!!

Rescue 911, Tuesday

Those red slips of paper you see in Brother Johnny's hands signify children who have accepted Christ. Two children were saved tonight. Praise the Lord! That's what it's about!

This is Logan, holding his Bible. One little girl asked him last night, "Why is your Bible so old?" He answered, "Because it's God's WORD!"

We line up in the hall and march into opening assembly together. This is facing one way and we were still waiting on others to show up.

This is facing the other direction. Lots of kiddos!

Our class had sixteen last night and we picked up three tonight.

Since Rescue 911 is our theme, tonight we had a local fire station bring in one of their trucks. The kids loved that.

Especially Harrison. He was eager to climb up there for a picture.

When we went back inside, we worked the craft we started last night. This was a difficult craft, let me tell ya! But Mrs. Kellie, Mrs. Amy, Mrs. Linda, and Mrs. Carla did a great job with those wiggly eyes! LOL

This picture was just funny because one of the teens was throwing their puppet in the air to make the kids laugh. It was like it was cutting flips with the music.

Drake, that cutie pie there with the sweet smile, is such a great kid. We love him a lot at our church!

The penny war is truly on! Jonathan and Jennifer are getting married next month and have been chosen to be our designated pie-in-the-face people. If the boys win Friday, Jenn gets a pie in her face. If the girls win Friday, Jonathan gets a pie in his face.

The boys won the penny war again tonight. Jenn may be feeling a little nervous. GO GIRLS!!!
