We Say We Remember, But Have We Really Forgotten?

Today marks eight years since the tragic day our country was left in tears and ashes. I remember that day well. I was on the phone with my dad, who was in the hospital. He said, "Oh my! A plane just crashed into one of the twin towers." We were sad at that tragedy and then minutes later, the second tower was struck. Realization began to sink in that our America was under attack.

I also remember how our nation bent down in prayer the days and months following this terrible event.

As the smoke began to clear and interviews with heart broken families began to cease, the prayers became less and the nation, once again, found its place in a hole, seeking after greedy gain and selfishness.

Do I remember 9/11? Oh yes. A day that will forever live in our minds. But will it live in our hearts? It seems to me that we remember that day, forgetting how it drew us closer to God as a nation.

Seven years from this tragedy, this nation voted in a man that does not love Israel. He does not love the unborn. He does not love God. He does not love the Bible. And yet, we want to remember 9/11 as though God had nothing to do with it.

If our soldiers, our firemen, our policeman, our loved ones that died during 9/11 could speak to us today, I would have no doubt they would tell us to turn from our wicked ways and take this nation back to its foundings. I have no doubt they would tell us to serve the True and Living God. A God that does not ask of us to kill the infidel. A God that does not want us to take the life of the unborn. A God that wants our children to pray to Him and read His WORD. A God that sent His only begotten Son to die for us.

Yes, remember 9/11 America. Remember it as a day God removed His hand from this nation to bring us closer to Him. Remember 9/11 as an opportunity to save this nation.

We say we remember, but have we really forgotten?

I know what some of you are thinking. Some of you are shaking your head and thinking I'm all about doom and gloom. You're right! Doom and gloom on a nation that has turned its back on God.

My heart breaks for all those who lost someone during 9/11. And I greatly respect and admire our soldiers, police officers, fireman, and other workers that place their lives in danger to save us.

But there is something greater in our midst. We say we remember, but have we really forgotten?

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Labor Day Weekend

First of all, I want to send out a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. and Mrs. Justin Sorrells! They got hitched this weekend!!! We're so happy for Justin. He waited patiently on the Lord to send him just the right girl and God gave him Keah. We pray y'all have a wonderful life together!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As most of you know, our car is not running. So we shared a ride with Kelsey's family to the mountains for Brother Greg's birthday party. We had a really good time!
Mrs. Janet was busy getting things ready for a cookout when we got there.
Carissa was still running around in her jammies. Ain't she purdy?
Celine had fun playing in the creek.
Caleb....
It was Brother Greg's birthday and he was slaving over the grill. The burgers were so delish!
Harrison and Hannah....
All of the children had fun playing in the creek.
This is my friend, Jeannie....Kelsey's mama.
Some of us played Corn Toss.
And some of us bounced a volleyball without a net....or volleyball. We were actually using a soccer ball. It was fun.
Brother Greg's cake....pretty, huh?
Carissa was giving her daddy kissies. Isn't that sweet?
Janet made homemade ice cream to go with the birthday cake. Chocolate and Vanilla. YUM, YUM!
Dustin was a ray of sunshine as always. Look at him...ain't he just the handsome little man?
After lunch we went to Lake Lure. Kelsey and Carissa decided to snooze a little on the way down.
We took some boats out on the lake and it was so enjoyable. I would love to do it everyday!
Carissa was still in the snoozing mode when we got to the lake. Bless her...
We stopped the boats and took a swim for a little bit.
Harrison and Celine were working so hard to get to a boat. They were hilarious!
The view was beautiful as the sun was beginning to go down.
When we got back from a couple of hours of boating and swimming, the sun had gone down and the moon was out. This is what I saw from where I sat around the campfire. I thought it was pretty.
We finished off the chicken and hamburgers when we got back from the Lake. We were all hungry after swimming. Especially the kiddos!
Then we took it easy around the fire. The temperature was dropping and the fire was nice.
Dustin had fun playing with this little light.
Here's a couple of videos to enjoy. :)
It was a great time and we had so much fun. Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Brother Greg. We love you and you're a blessing to our family!!
Happy Birthday, Marie!!
My mother-in-law had a birthday this week and we were happy to honor her on her special day. She likes pink, so I made sure to get her a pink cake. It was a yellow cake with whipped icing. Very good. For supper, she wanted Lasagna. So that's what I fixed. It was very good too, if I do say so myself!
Making a wish....
I bought a fudge swirl ice cream and it was PACKED with chocolate. I don't think I've EVER seen that much chocolate in a fudge swirl. It must have gotten stuck under the fudge spout. LOL
For her birthday, we gave her a little gadget she can use to upload her pictures to her computer by plugging it into the USB port. I went over today and showed her how to use it.
If you'll recall, we bought her a camera for Christmas so her pictures dated back to Christmas. LOL
She's getting ready to go on a cruise so Bruce gave her some spending money for her birthday also.
And then of course it was kissy-time!
I'm thankful to have a mother-in-law that likes me. Anyone can love you, but it's great when they like you too.
After supper, desserts, and gifts, Marie stayed to have devotions with us and even participated. It was really nice and we enjoyed having her with us.
Happy Birthday, Marie! We love you and hope you had a wonderful time. We sure did!
