VBS 2009....Be sure to catch the video of who won the penny war!

Last Monday we began our VBS 2009, Western Round Up! This is our traditional puppet box. But we decided to add some farm animals to the mix with our theme and.....

...this is what it looked like when we were finished. Mrs. Janet found some black material and we covered those last two windows with it. It looked FABULOUS!

And just look at that piggy in the mud! How cute is he? :)

Lots of children showed up for VBS this week.

I believe our highest night was just over 260. That was a blessing!

Cameron found a cricket. He loves bugs. He carried it around on his finger like this until it was time to go in from playing. And when it was time to go in, he just flung it in the air at a hundred miles an hour and ran off. Poor cricket. hehe

This is my class holding the rope on the way down to closing assembly. They were the SUCH great kids this week. I love them!!!!

Assembly

A few of the "cool" puppets. :D

Daddy in his western round up clothes.

I thought this was funny. The children would bring their pennies in sandwich baggies and when they had dumped their pennies into their bucket, they'd just throw their baggies on the alter. That just cracked me up for some reason.

Bible Time!

For craft one night we made door hangers. This little boy's name was Will and I liked how his hanger turned out. "Jesus Will." There's a message in that, huh?

Poppy and Baby girl....awwww

Love this little girl's eyes.

Yelling for the puppets to come out.

Isn't she cute?

More Bible Time!

One night we had a snow cone machine. Oh, the children sure did enjoy those on that hot day!!

Kelsey and Justin working the puppets

Baby Doll got to hold a flag one night. Doesn't she look like the all American sweetie?

Friday night was our big air slide night. This was a HUGE hit with the kiddos!

We also had hot dogs with Mrs. Janet's chili. Mmmm....I just eat her chili on a bun. It's so good! There were several hundreds of hot dogs, and only three were left. Those were hungry babes!

My class made cowboy hats on Monday and this was them ready to go Friday night for their closing assembly.

Each year we have a penny war between the boys and the girls. The boys won most of the nights, but Friday night was the most important. Friday night was when we found out who would get the pie....Brother Greg or Mrs. Janet? Here's a video so you can see if the boys or the girls won. There's a surprise ending to this video too. Funny stuff.....

And here are the pictures of "pie time."

Poor Brother Greg!

Poor Mrs. Janet. Almost doesn't seem fair, does it?
There were several men....and children....to help with the penny mess. Brother RJ was standing in the middle isle telling the children, "Back up! Back up, please!!" It was hilarious!!! Total penny mayhem!
VBS expenses....$500.00
Twenty-seven souls saved....PRICELESS!

Deep, Deep Down in my Heart

Tammy Carter was teaching our class the song, Deep, Deep Down in my Heart, in class last night. The five year olds..........and mom...........were eager to learn the new song. :)

Sigma Trip and VBS

I have my pictures uploaded from Six Flags and the Coke Factory. We had so much fun. I really think it was the best "fun" trip we've been on with the youth group. It was a GREAT!

Six Flags was HOT! While waiting in line for a ride, Bruce and I came up with a BILLION dollar idea for an amusement park. However, funding it would be a problem. Does anyone have Bill Gates number???

The coke factory was nothing at all what I expected it to be. I thought we were going to tour a factory. But where we were was better than that!! We enjoyed it a lot. A couple of the teens said they had more fun there than at the amusement park. It's definitely a great family trip if you haven't been before.

You can click here to see pictures from that trip.

We had 240 children our first night of VBS, which was tonight. Two children accepted Jesus into their hearts and that's what it's all about. Our theme this week is a western round up and our lesson tonight was Jesus Needs Some Boys and Girls! They seemed to be soaking it in and that makes me happy to know I'm getting through to them. It was a wonderful night and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Earlier this week, Hannah and I helped at the church getting things ready for VBS. We worked on banners. Our theme this year is a Western Round Up.

My cowboy turned out so cute. Even Hannah was enamored by him.

Kelsey even showed up to work. :)

This still isn't the finished product. It's all filled in and finished and looks great, if I do say so myself! LOL

And this one is the little cowgirl. Kelsey and Hannah helped with this one. Both banners turned out fantastic. They'll look good hanging in the sanctuary.
Kendra made some farm animals to hang on the walls, but I haven't snagged their pictures yet. They turned out really cute too.

Right now I'm getting ready to pack for Georgia. We're going to Atlanta tomorrow and visiting a couple of sites there this weekend. I know I'll have lots of pictures to share when we get back.
Hope y'all have a great weekend!

VBS Next Week!!

Next week we will be having our VBS at church. Our theme is a cowboy round up theme and it's going to be so cute.
Hannah and I went today and worked on banners and pictures with Kendra. Kelsey showed up after she got off work. It was fun and tomorrow we'll finish up what we didn't get to today.

We took a couple of pics, but I haven't had time to download them yet. I might get to share some pictures tomorrow night. We'll see.
Harrison is attending VBS at another church this week. He had a good time last night and is looking forward to tonight. Justin is taking him and then hanging out with a friend until its time to pick him up. It's so nice having a child that can drive. hehe

I made a huge pot of spaghetti last night so we're having leftovers. It's also nice that I don't have to cook tonight. Toss a little salad together, and voila!
This is such a boring post, but if I don't post something I'll be reprimanded by someone for not updating. So please forgive me that there is no humor, excitement, spiritual uplifting, etc.
