So tonight we're having an all-nighter with our Sigma youth. We'll be playing some indoor putt-putt and then making our way back to the church for a lot of gym games and other activities. Hopefully we'll have plenty of caffeine and snacks to keep them up all night. Then again.... maybe we should have no caffeine and they'll all pass out no later than 3:00. That would be great, but I remember being a teenager, and I really don't think that will happen. We'll go to breakfast in the morning and then they'll all go home and crash. Well. WE'LL all go home and crash.
We're taking Harry's iPod back tomorrow and hopefully they'll exchange it for another one if it can't be fixed. He's missed it so much. He'll be spending the weekend with his Grandmother and he's looking forward to it.
I haven't been feeling well the last few days. Kind of sick on my stomach. Nothing happening, just nauseated all the time. I almost WISH something would happen just to relieve the nauseousness. Hopefully it will pass soon.
God is so good and He is perfect in all His ways. I have several prayer requests on my heart and would appreciate your prayers with me.
I think I'm going to take a wee nap before I'm up all night with a bunch of crazy teenagers. Maybe we should have signed up our junior sponsors for tonight. LOL Looking forward to being with them and hopefully some of their youth will rub off on me and I'll manage to make it through the night!

Pray for the Wray Family
Yesterday, we said goodbye to one of the sweetest, most humble men I have ever had the privilege of knowing, Brother Arnold Wray.
Brother Johnny said it best at the funeral when he said that we had lost a spiritual giant. I don't know of a more sincere, quiet, and praying man. As a matter of fact, it is said by family and friends that he spent hours a day in prayer. And when he died, he was praying, asking God to help his family, asking God to help his wife, and to bless his church.
Brother Arnold had been on dialysis for a while and had been told for months that he only had a few days left, but God allowed our church to watch him, week after week, come in and take a seat near the back of the church with his oxygen tank, as he could no longer sit on the platform. Which was his seat for nearly sixty years as our choir director. He lived for the next church services. Knowing how weak he was would send me into tears as he would stand up with both hands raised in the air during church services. I remember coming in many times before church and I would see him in the back with his hands together, rocking back and forth in prayer.
The day before his funeral, his wife was brought up to the church to see him. She, herself, in a nursing home. She patted his arm and told him she loved him. That he was a sweet husband and she would see him in Heaven. Little did she, or the family, know that just four hours after his funeral, she would make her crossing and she did see him again.
I wonder as Brother Arnold stepped onto the shores of Glory, if the Lord told him to wait, that Mrs. Louise was coming. I wonder if he stood there, patiently, as was his way, and waited to take her by the hand as they both stepped onto streets of gold together. Breathing in celestial air, taking in the beauty and splendor of Heaven, and looking into the face of the One that they gave their hearts to many years ago. What a precious thought!
We will miss Brother Arnold and Mrs. Lousie. We have more to go to Heaven for, than we had yesterday.
Please remember the Wray family in your prayers.

Prayer Request
Praying for Kristin today. She is undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor. She's a pastor's wife with young children. Her CATs last night showed a spot on her lung also. They are more concerned about the tumor right now and will investigate the spot on her lung later. There is a possibility that it is from a blood clot she had last year. Please pray for her and her family and for the doctors today.
ETS: They did not do Kristin's surgery. After viewing more tests done before surgery, they found extensive amounts of cancer in her liver and lungs. They want to do a biopsy on the tumor in her head and figure out what kind of cancer they are dealing with and how and if they will do any treatments. This was a huge blow to them, as you can imagine.

Also, the update on Becca is getting better. She is still having some issues. Here is her mom's most recent update: Becca is doing really good, she is having memory issues and is still extremely weak. Has to be fed, can't hold her head up, or her arms and legs. Heard baby's heart rate today, 162, which is real good. Please cont to pray for her strength to increase, and her memory. Thanks so much to EVERYONE.

I'm sitting here in my very warm and quiet house, knowing that in just a few minutes I need to leave my very warm and quiet house to go clean another house. It's cold outside and I do not want to move.
It's been nice sitting here listening to the birds chirp and knowing that spring is just around the corner. Which means warm days...pretty flowers...flip flops............allergies. :/
This has been a great week. Valentine's Day spent with the loves of my life, lunch with my crazy brother, a man accepted Christ at church last night, and having our moms over for dinner tonight. Chili is on the menu.
Bruce had a health assessment this morning when he got off work. Everything looked pretty good. There was one thing that concerned me and that was his triglycerides. I'm going to do an Internet search on that and see what I can do to help so it doesn't get in the bad zone. It wasn't too bad, but it was high enough to raise an eyebrow, if you know what I mean. So we'll see what we can do.
Justin is very sick. If you think of him, please say a prayer. I hate to think of him sick and having to run out in this cold, damp weather, not to mention trying to focus on the book work and tests. All the talk of pneumonia and all, I sure don't want him to get it.
Here's an update on Becca from her mom and dad on Tuesday for those that have been praying for her:
Mom's update around 2:00 am, "Becca is not out of the woods but doing really good, in fact she stuck her tongue out at me twice today, even with the vent still in. Please continue to pray for her, the baby and Michael."
Dad's update around 11:00 am, "Just saw Becca and she is doing amazing. Breathing well and looking great. Should be off of ventilator soon. Thanks for answered prayers"
James 5:16, "Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Special Request
A childhood friend and her family are going through a very hard time right now. Her daughter, (Becca) is a newlywed, and expecting their first child. She came down with pneumonia, as well as other medical problems, the latter part of January. February 1st they put Becca in a medically induced coma.

So far the baby and mom are doing ok. According to her dad last night, she is off her pain meds and her stats are great and they want her to come out of her coma. However, this morning, she still has not woke up and they are doing a CT scan to see what is going on.
It seemed to be looking very grim just days ago, but Becca has made great improvements. The family is asking everyone that will, to please pray for her and the baby. And the doctors as they work to help her get better.
She is Becca Garrett. Remember her husband and parents also. This has been very difficult for them all.
ETS: Becca's mom updated her fb page with this: This morn she wasnt responding to nurse, so they took her off all sedatives. She responded a little to induced pain later in the day. They have since reduced vent to 35% if she can hold her own they will reduce it again tomorrow. MD wants to order a CT if she cont to not respond, but other MD say its normal with all the meds she has been on. Please continue to pray for healing. Thanks

Thanks!

Family and Prayer
I had been excited about my cousin and her family coming to spend a day or so with us ever since she told me a month or so ago that they were coming while visiting family and friends for Thanksgiving. I had a good time while they were here.
I cooked supper for them last night. We had roast with cream of mushroom gravy, crock pot mac-n-cheese, southern green beans, homemade mashed potatoes, stewed carrots, rolls, and coconut cake for dessert. My mom, my brother, John, and his wife, Jenny, were able to join us and I was glad of that. I enjoy having my table filled around with family. What a blessing!
After supper we piled in the van and took them to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts and milk before we went to see the lights in McAdenville. I walked with the kids a little bit, through McAdenville. It was cold, but it felt so good.
I did, however, pull my back out somehow. Not really sure when or how, but I did! Art's plane tickets were scheduled for him to leave a few hours earlier than Angie and the girls, so after Bruce and I dropped Angie and the girls at the airport this morning, he stopped to get me some medicine for my back. They've had me sleepy all day, but they're working.
I do have a prayer request if you wouldn't mind. I have a lot of mixed emotions about a situation and just praying the Lord's will be done. If you happen to think about it, I'd appreciate you praying with me on this matter, that God's will be done, and that my emotions and flesh will not get in the way of Him working. Please pray that I'll make the right decisions. To remove ourselves from an unknown situation that only God can handle for us is very difficult sometimes. But I do trust Him and I do believe He will work.
Thank you, Art and Angie, Ashley, Ari, and Allison, for a wonderful time of fellowship. You have no idea how the devil worked to steal this time from me, but he could not. I love you all and I miss you already.

On My Heart This Morning...
You Hear Me When I Pray
There've been times, in my life
facing so much fear and strife,
not knowing just what's best to do
That's when I needed You the most,
that's when I found You so close
assuring me that You'd see me through
If I but fall upon my knees
You'd hear my desperate plea
assuring me the answers on the way
For in my hour of deep despair,
I call on You, You're always there
it's good to know You hear me when I pray
Many times I've searched high and low
not knowing which way to go
Satan tries confusing me more
But then a voice so tenderly
whispers, "Child, bring it to me,
I hold the answers you're searching for"
You see, no matter where I have been
or how far deep in sin
and even though I may run to hide
Down in my heart, one thing I know
Jesus loves me, this is so
And He stands with arms open wide
If I but fall upon my knees
You hear my desperate plea
assuring me the answer's on the way
For in my hour of deep despair,
I call on You, You're always there
It's good to know You hear me when I pray.

This and That and This
Harrison and I are home alone today. Well, technically, Bruce is here, but he's sleeping. So it's just me and Harry. I MIGHT...big might there... take him uptown and let him play in the fountains. Kids seem to enjoy that. Lots of fun. They just push a button and the fountains come up. Maybe we'll go ride our bikes on the Gateway trail too. He's not been feeling too great this week so I don't know if we'll do this today or not.
Hannah has been praying about something close to her heart and God has already started opening doors for her financially. She's started saving her money and is getting very excited about it. This "special something" takes place in about a year or so from now, I think. It's good to sit back and watch God open doors for your children when they want to do something for Him.
Justin is gearing up for the Fire Academy in the fall. He has repelling class this Saturday and is really looking forward to that. Wish I could go watch...and of course take pictures. But I don't think he'd want his mommy there for that. Do you?
By the way, those of you that prayed for little Austin, thank you! He was sent home a couple of days later and he's doing good!! Doctors ran all kinds of tests and are just scratching their heads to what was wrong with him. But I believe the Lord healed him with all the prayers that were offered up for him. God is still in the healing business!! :)
We have a busy weekend ahead of us. I don't know if I'm ready for it or not. LOL But! Ready or not, here it comes!

Requesting Prayer...
...for a sweet family in our church. The family of Mrs. Shirley Corriveau Walker has suffered a great loss today. Heaven is even sweeter. Mrs. Shirley will be greatly missed.

A Request From Mrs. Tammy
Mrs. Tammy Griffin, our pianist at church, called today and wanted to know if I would post a request for her step dad, Brother Leroy Griffin.
Brother Griffin, who within the last couple of years, surrendered to missions, has been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. He is at CMC now, after an episode yesterday. Please say a prayer for him and pass the word along to other members in our church.
Click here for a better understanding of this illness.
Thanks!

Prayer for My Mommy
I just wanted to request prayer for my mom. The doctor that did her hip surgery is not pleased with her mobility and wants her to start a regular walking regiment. However, at this time she has phlebitis, which is an inflamation of the vein. Fortunately, it is the superficial kind. Not the dangerous kind deep in the veins, but rather on the surface of the veins. In other words, she does not have a blood clot. But her personal physician wants her off her feet for a few days until the inflamation goes down. So she hasn't been able to start her walking exercises.
So just pray that after these few days of staying off her feet she can start those needed exercises for her hip.
Thank you!

MG and Rush Night, 2008
First of all, for those of you that prayed for little MG, thank you. Please continue to pray for her when you think of her. MG had to have a feeding tube put in and was in a great deal of pain after the surgery. She cried for several hours and it was breaking her mommy's heart, as you can imagine. The surgery went well and they're hoping that after the first 12 hours they will see a considerable difference in her pain. Her mom knew that many prayers were being offered for them this morning.

Rush night was Sunday night. For those of you who aren't familiar with Rush night, it's when the two Sigma teams in our youth group are given limited space to decorate and cheer their team to a leading point score. The two teams compete during the rest of the school year both as a team and individually to score the highest points. They are able to score points through Bible memorization, church attendance, sermon outlines, daily devotions, visitors, etc....and at the end of the year there is an awards banquet.
This year our teams are the Alpha Theta Speed. Brother Chris and Mrs. Dana are their sponsors.
The other team is the Chi Alpha UFC (Ultimate Fighters for Christ) Bruce and I are the sponsors for this team.
The kids began decorating for their Rush Night a couple weeks ago. Speed was decorating like the races and the UFC went with boxing.
A lot of work goes into Rush night. There's banner making....

props.......

cutting letters for the team verses.......by the way, if you've never used a cricut for cutting out bulletin board letters or letters and objects for scrapbooking, you REALLY have to use one. I LOVE it!

more props.......

Our team verse is 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"

Bruce and the boys constructed a boxing ring.

Cassie and LeAnna made signs for the rounds.

Gary and Kendra made our UFC banner. The judges look for something that has the all the team member's names on it. So our names were on the banner.

Crystal and Hannah worked together on their verse banner. Hannah cut out the letters on the Cricut and Crystal began posting them. They did an acrostic for SPEED which said, Saved, People, Encouraging, Everlasting, Dedication. Their verse was Hebrews 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."

Josie and Moriah, two girls from our bus ministry that have become involved with Sigma, worked on the signatures for their team.

Our team bought shirts and painted them for their team.

Brainstorming!

Things were coming together.

WORKY-WORK!

Everything was ready and finished by Saturday afternoon and the two teams were ready to RUMBLE!
Mrs. Amy, our resident cake baker, made this terrific cake for our dessert table. And it was sooooo good! Just like every other cake she makes.

I loved how she did the sides.

As people came into the fellowship building after church Sunday night, the teams began to yell cheers at each other and taunt the other team. It gets VERY loud. I thought for sure Justin and Jeremy would go home with no voice. They found shirts at Wal Mart, of all places, that said, "God is my victory lane." I thought that was neat.

Our team was thinking of cheers. One they did said, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, prepare to be killed by the UFC." They would also yell, "HEY SPEED! YOU GOTTA FLAT TIRE!"

Brother Richie, who is a wrestler, was KIND enough to let us borrow his belts for decoration.

Our food tables consisted of hot dogs with all the fixins', nachos and cheese with salsa and jalapeno' peppers, assortments of chips, drinks, and desserts.

Nathaniel and Gary came out ready to put on a show in the boxing ring.

Our ring girl, LeAnna, held up the Round 1 sign and then it was on!

After that match, they called over a team member from Speed. Wouldn't you know it would be Justin?

Bruce and I worked the concession for our side, along with Mrs. Vondie. Thank you, Mrs. Vondie for helping us there!!

My sweet Hannah girl

When things began to quiet down and the church had gone through the lines, the kids and sponsors ate.

Mrs. Dana...ain't she purdy? She found the CUTEST little baskets to hold their flatware and napkins. I loved 'em. They were black with a checkered flag look around the top. I thought they were really cute.

Erika, Jacob, and Josie

Hannah and Justin

Dustin and his dad, Brother Mark.

Jonathan got in the ring with the little ones and wrestled with them. It was hilarious watching these little boys try to take Jonathan down.

Before we knew it, every child in the building wanted in the ring to wrestle.

Caleb's dad had to be in China for his job and missed Caleb's first Rush night. But I'm sure he'll have a good time telling him all about it when he gets home.

Jamie C by his team's car

Still eating....

These were some of our tough ring girls. Taylor doesn't look so tough, but trust me...don't let that smile fool ya!

We had a great time and our team was pleased to know they took the points home that night. Both teams did a fantastic job and we're proud of all of them. We're looking forward to moving on with this year.

Mrs. Dana...ain't she purdy? She found the CUTEST little baskets to hold their flatware and napkins. I loved 'em. They were black with a checkered flag look around the top. I thought they were really cute.
